My week with Wycombe Sound

The past week i went on a work placement with a radio station based near my home in Buckinghamshire. Wycombe Sound is a local FM radio station that broadcasts to areas around High Wycombe in the United Kingdom. The station is run by Wycombe Community Radio which is a Community Interest Company and the day-to-day presenters and supporting staff are all volunteers.

I got to meet many of these volunteers and learn from their vast experience in this industry. It was a big step for me working in this environment but I appreciated how much free roam i was given from one for the Directors Keith Higgins, i worked closely with him for the sports show for the week while i was there. I worked on being a producer for the live radio show as well as writing the whole script for the show. I then travelled to Chesham to give live commentary with Keith on Chesham United reserves v Rissborough Rangers.

SPORTS ROUND UP BREAKFAST NEWS AT 0830

Local Football

Wycombe Wanderers – SkyBet EFL Two

Drew 3 – 3 at home to Cheltenham Town.

Wycombe play Mansfield at home on Good Friday they sit 11th in the table but a win would take them one step closer to the playoffs especially if results go their way. While if Mansfield get the win, they will leapfrog Wycombe.

On Monday, they travel to Barnet who can only hope for a mid-table finish now.

 Maidenhead United – Vanarama National League South

Beat East Thurrock United 2 – 1 away, with Ebbsfleet United drawing at Truro City, the Magpies are now 5 points clear of the Kent side at the top of the table with 4 games left.

Maidenhead United play Concord Rangers at home on Good Friday 3 o’clock kick-off hoping to extend that lead at the top of the Vanarama National League south.

They then head to Cornwall to play Truro City on Monday afternoon.

 Chesham United – Evo-Stik Southern Premier

Lost 2 – 1 to Biggleswade Town.

Chesham United play Weymouth away in Dorset on Good Friday. If Weymouth win they will go above Chesham into 10th.

While on Monday they host local-rivals Slough Town who are hoping to get a tighter grip on their play-off spot.

 Slough Town – Evo-Stik Southern Premier

Lost 3 – 0 away at Kettering Town.

In 4th place, 4 points clear of Banbury in 6th place with 3 games to go so still looking good for play offs.

Slough Town play Cirencester Town at home on Good Friday looking to secure their play-off place.

 Chalfont St. Peter – Evo-Stik Division One Central

Lost 3 – 0 at Home on Tuesday v Kempston Rovers, the rescheduled game that was abandoned in the 90th minute 3 weeks ago when Adam Kirby sustained a serious neck injury. Chalfont St. Peter play Arlesley Town on Saturday at home. They then travel to Marlow on Monday night.

Beaconsfield SYCOB – Evo-Stik Division One Central

Drew 0 – 0 at home to Northwood.

Beaconsfield travel to Bedford Town on Saturday. They then host Egham Town on Monday in the penultimate game of their season.

 Marlow – Evo-Stik Division One Central

Beat Bedford Town 3 – 1 at home. Up to 4th place and need 8 points from their remaining 4 games to confirm a play-off place.

Marlow play Northwood away on Saturday.

 Flackwell Heath – UHL Hellenic League Premier

Lost to Lydney Town on penalties in the Final of the Hellenic Floodlit Cup. Game ended 3-3 losing 4-3 on penalties.

Burnham UHL Hellenic League Premier

Travel to Tuffley Rovers on Saturday in the final game of the season. (Safe from relegation)

Penn and Tylers Green – Hellenic League Division One East

Won 2-1 on Tuesday evening v Chalfont Wasps. Winning them the league title. They travel to Bicester on Saturday in the Bluefin Sport Hellenic Supplementary Cup. Then on Monday they travel to Headington play their final game of the season.

Holmer Green – Spartan South Midlands Premier

Lost 2 – 0 at home to Cockfosters. They play London Tigers on Saturday away from home.

Risborough Rangers – Spartan South Midlands Division 1

Lost 1 – 0 away to top of the table Biggleswade. Still in 6th place, level on points with 5th placed Harefield Town and with a game in hand. They make the short trip to Chesham United Reserves on Saturday still battling for that final play-off spot.
