Local Sandwich maker Dominic Salter is ready to shine in the spotlight again. The Sandwich designer is looking to win big at the Grand Final of the Sandwich Designer of the year awards in London.
Mr. Salter who works at the Sandwich Box in Imperial Square has been chosen as one of the best designers in the South-West of England. But it isn’t the first time Mr. Salter has been in the spotlight for his unique ability of designing sandwiches.
The Bakery who is owned by Annette Salter, Dominic’s Mother and himself. He was the joint winner of the Pomegranate and Mango Chutney category with his Pea Paneer Pocket and won a semi-final in the Duck Leg category with his Duck and Dive In sandwich.
He also won the trophy for the speciality bread category in the Tiptree World Bread Awards. His Stroud Big Cat Sourdough loaf wowed the judges and made all the hard work of preparing for the awards worthwhile.
They had two more competitions this week leading up to the grand final. They won an award at one of them with the Western Daily Press. But Dominic busy preparation sees him deliver two loaves of bread in Dorset for judging by the guild of Final Food. Before returning to Cheltenham to make his way to London on Thursday.
Mr. Salter had this to say about his busy week, “Thursday is quite daunting, I have planned to get all my prep sorted on Wednesday. Check the suit for stains, hotel booked, brutal!”
6 lucky finalists made their way through the competition for Sandwich Designer of the Year and Mr. Salter was one of them. However there were a total of 11 other designers who were unfortunate to not make it through to the final.
