The Ghanaian sign for the West-London club for an undisclosed fee believed to be around 20 million pounds.
The Blues were after a new left-back after letting Brazilian international Filipe Luis return to Atletico Madrid after only one season at Stamford Bridge. But the promising 21-year-old left-back joins a Chelsea side that have made a troubled side to the new season.
The 21-year-old, who reportedly passed a medical last week, is believed to have agreed a five-year deal at the Premier League champions.
And now Augsburg Commercial Manager Stefan Reuter has confirmed the transfer, which will cost the Blues a reported £21.7million. Reuter told Bild: “The contracts between Augsburg and Chelsea are signed. Baba is now a Chelsea player. He added: “Baba Rahman has developed tremendously with us for a year and made a great leap.
While Rahman Baba said on his move to the English champions: “I thank all those responsible, coaches and fans of FC Augsburg for their support last year. This chance to play at a top club in England is a simple choice, even if I had actually planned on a long-term stay in Augsburg a year ago.”
